Abstract

Poly(2,5-benzimidazole) (ABPBI) is another chemically related class of PBIs. It can be synthesized from a single monomer, 3,4-diaminobenzoic acid (DABA). ABPBI membrane loses its mechanical stability as the PA content in the membrane increases, and even dissolved due to its higher basicity than PBI membrane. Our group prepared cross-linked ABPBI membranes using a direct casting process for the first time. The effects of cross-linking on the membrane properties of ABPBI including the chemical and mechanical stabilities, and proton conductivity are also included.
