Abstract

A decomposition of the focusing transformation matrix needed in the coherent signal-subspace method of H. Wang and M. Kaveh (IEEE Trans. ASSP, vol. ASSP-33, no. 4, pp. 823-831, Aug 1985) is presented. The decomposition yields a structure for implementing the space-time domain filter needed to preprocess the array data prior to the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation step. The resulting structure uses blocking matrices and steering matrices as modules to give a simple preprocessing filter. This structure is compared to a previously published multichannel filter design.
