Abstract

The longitudinal length variation for rotating axis can be found in pullback device of the Intravascular ultrasound system (IVUS) which is a medical device. For the design of pullback device in intravascular ultrasound system, we have developed a mechanism which is possible the longitudinal length variation in the axis of high-speed rotation as more than 30 times per second. The mechanism prevents the folding and bending of the signal connection line employing helix structures in longitudinal length variation. In the study, We present the longitudinal length variation mechanism for rotating shaft as be able to improve the disadvantage of the existing commercial pullback devices and is to design a pullback device using this mechanism. Also, using the helix structure, this study proposes the mechanism to minimize bending of rotating axis that can occur when the longitudinal length of the axis of rotation is varied.
