Abstract
The drift velocity and the longitudinal diffusion coefficient of electrons in 0.526 % and 5.05 % C3F8-Ar mixtures and in pure C 3F8 were measured and calculated in the E/N ranges of 0.03 - 100 Td and 0.3 - 200 Td, respectively. The measured and the calculated electron transport coefficients in the mixtures were used to determine the essential vibrational excitations and electronic excitations cross-sections of the C3F8 molecule, and those in pure G3F 8 were used to derive the elastic momentum-transfer cross-section for the molecule in conjunction with the above derived vibrational excitations and electronic excitations cross-sections. Consideration of realistic anisotropies for electron scattering had little effect on the electron transport coefficients.
