Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a genital image scale using 167 open-question questionnaires completed by 170 married women living in Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Daejeon, Jeonju, Gwangju, Mokpo, and Jeju, Korea. A total of 109 preliminary items were distributed to 410 women (non-patients) and 200 women who visited the obstetrics clinic. The total was revised to 75 items through content validity rating and exploratory factor analysis of the final preliminary questionnaire. The final 371 participants were analyzed. The Korean version of the Korean Genital Image Scale (K-FGI S) was developed with 37 items. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis of the image, the KMO value was 0.910, which was a general standard of 0.80 or higher. The reliability α value of the genital image scale was as high as 0.922. In the confirmatory factor analysis, the CFI was 0.912, the TLI was 0.901 and the RMSEA was 0.053. The coefficient of a factor was larger than 0.40 for all items, and it was found to be a reasonable scale to measure genital image. In the analysis of convergent validity and criterion validity through a correlation analysis with the related scales, all of the components and subfactors of the genital image were highly correlated with the Genital Self-image Scale in the US (r+0.22~0.62, p<0.01). In Korea, the sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction scale also showed a significant positive correlation.
