Abstract
We studied the proton-beam-irradiation effect in TlH 2PO 4 that undergoes both an antiferroelectric phase transition and a ferroelastic phase transition. A polycrystalline sample was irradiated by 1-MeV hydrogen ion beams to a dose of 10 15 ions/cm 2. A significant increase of the paramagnetic moments was detected after the irradiation, and the electron paramagnetic resonance spectra appeared to reflect microscopic changes associated with an antiferroelectric-paraelectric phase transition arising from the proton-beam irradiation.
