Abstract

The phenomenon of fusion among technologies, disciplines, and industries is emerging in diverse fields across the globe. However, many pieces of fusion research have tended to focus on technologies, while fusion research in other academic fields has rarely been conducted. Furthermore, the subject matter of existing fusion research has largely been chosen according to the relevant experts' opinions and intuitions. This paper aims to evaluate the status of fusion research and to explore potential fusion disciplines by developing a keyword-based research knowledge map. Therefore, exploring potential fusion disciplines without the expert's intuition can help governmental policy makers to identify promising fusion disciplines, and provide insight regarding new fusion research areas for scientists.
