Abstract
This chapter introduces the volume and positions it in relation to existing work on the topic from translation and film and media studies. Beginning with a discussion of the international reception of British and Korean media, it moves on to discuss how streaming platforms have been changing and how media are consumed and produced. Here, it focuses especially on diversity and sustainability of media production, for example, the shifts toward more diverse casting and storytelling. It then surveys work on streaming from media and translation studies, noting how the field has developed in recent years, before giving an overview on the mutual reception of Korean and British media in the other country. The current research has significant gaps, some of which are addressed by the chapters in this volume. Finally, the chapters in the volume are introduced.
