Abstract
Due to their unique properties, ionic liquids (ILs) play a special role in chemical processes/separation/preconcentration of various analytes and in various applications. Especially, IL-based single-drop microextraction (SDME) coupled with various analytical techniques provide powerful and green analytical methodologies. Thus, this chapter provides fundamental aspects of ILs including background and chemical functionality, classification, and their applications especially in SDME and a critical review of recent developments. Overall, this chapter provides the details of ILs and their applications in preconcentration of various analytes with SDME coupled with various analytical techniques.
