Abstract
Mangroves are one of the diverged ecosystems and are a rich source of medicinal and other valuable plant secondary products. Although a number of plants and micro-organisms have been used for the development of nanoparticles and different types of nanoparticles have already been synthesized from them, very few species of mangrove plants are being reported to have such uses. Some of the mangroves that are reported to have been used for synthesis of nanoparticles are Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora mucronata, R. apiculata, Avicenna marina and Padina gymnospora. Keeping the above factors into consideration, the present review aims at different aspects of the possible exploitation of mangrove plants for synthesis of different types of nanoparticles using various methods and mechanisms.
