Abstract
We have dev loped an 18-in. 287 × 359-mm mercury-free flat fluorescent lamp (FFL) having a new structure that utilizes dielectric barrier discharge and contains pure xenon gas. The electro-optical characteristics have been analyzed. The surface luminance of the lamp having a diffuser sheet is 5600 cd/m2 and the luminance uniformity is 92% at an applied voltage of 1050 Vrms and an applied frequency of 20 kHz in the form of a sine wave.
