Abstract

Microcalcification detection is a major part of diagnosis in early stage of breast cancer. In this paper, we propose a microcalcification detection system integrating mammogram pre-processing module for image enhancement and microcalcification detection module. In the pre-processing, contrast enhancement and background segmentation are performed. And microcalcification detection module employed multistage ANN (Artificial Neural Network). Experiments results show that the proposed microcalcification detection system shows good performance especially for scanned mammograms. Keywords: Mammography, Breast Cancer, Microcalcification.
