Abstract
α-Ferrous oxide (Fe2O3) nanostructures were synthesized by precipitation route using an aqueous solutions bath containing ferric and ferrous chloride. The prepared Fe2O3 nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, FTIR, VSM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns revealed orthorhombic phase Fe2O3 nanostructures. The crystallite size was estimated about ~11 nm. Nanopillars shaped grains were observed by FE-SEM and TEM studies. Magnetic properties of Fe2O3 were determined by using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The observed results were discussed in detail.
