Abstract

In this paper, we propose to use a 2×2 DCT for the multiresolution progressive image transmission of images with the spatial scalability. Since the 2×2 DCT has simple computations and insignificant image quality degradation comparing to the other convolution-based wavelet filters, it can be used for real-time progressive transmission of images through the internet.
