Optimally combining decision-directed and pilot-symbol-aided channel estimators

Abstract

A channel estimation method optimally combining decision-directed channel estimation (DDCE) and pilot-symbol-aided channel estimation (PSACE) was proposed. Code division multiple access (CDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems over multipath fading channels require accurate channel estimation at the receiver to compensate the fading distortions. Simulation results showed that the proposed method outperformed both DDCE and PSACE.
