Abstract
A series of one-side closed Ba 0.5 Sr 0.5 Co 0.8 Fe 0.2 O 3-δ (BSCF) hollow fiber membrane decorated with Sm/Sr co-doped ceria (SSDC) with Ce 0.8 (Sm 1-x Sr x ) 0.2 O 2-δ compositions have been studied as a function of strontium content (x = 0.0, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7) for high temperature vacuum driven oxygen separation from air. The oxygen permeation flux of all SSDC-decorated BSCF hollow fiber membranes is higher than that decorated with Sm-doped ceria (SDC, x = 0.0). The BSCF hollow fiber membrane decorated with SSDC with Sr content x = 0.5 exhibits the highest among the series (˜8 mL/cm 2 min, 950 °C), which can be mainly ascribed to the increase of oxygen vacancies for the surface exchange reaction.
