Abstract

A series of Dy3+ ions activated YAG nanophosphors have been prepared by means of solvothermal process and sintered at various temperatures. The crystalline structure and morphology of the samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy measurements. The synthesis, structural and luminescent properties along with chromaticity coordinates of the nanophosphor samples with the compositions xDy: Y(3-x)Al 5O12 (x=0.5 to 5 mol%) are featured in this paper. Furthermore, the yellow to blue intensity ratio of Dy3+ ions activated YAG system nanophosphors varies from 0.71 to 0.54. Such luminescent powders are expected to find potential applications such as optical display systems and lamps.
