Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the performance of square-law combining for optical wireless communication (OWC) system based on subcarrier intensity modulation (SIM)/spatial modulation(SM). Square-law combining is one of the receive diversity techniques that can mitigate the atmospheric turbulence induced fading in outdoor environment. Simulation results show that as the number of photo detectors increases, the performance of SIM/SM system is improved in terms of bit error rate.
